Reminders

We began our author study of author Chris Van Allsburg. All students have chosen 3 books to use throughout our author study activities. All students will bring home a choice board of activities on Friday and they will need to choose 2 activities. Students will have opportunities to work on these choice activities at school, however, they will also need to do some work at home.  Please take the opportunity to look at these activities with your child over the weekend and have them return their choice board with their choices on Monday.

Learning Focus

Math
We have begun Unit 3 Multi-Step Word Problems using the 4 operations. We are going to be starting a Hot Cocoa Bar project based learning activity that will incorporate many math skills in one project.
Social Studies
We will have our Economics Unit assessment on Friday, January 18. Students
have been given a study guide for the test and have been practicing
throughout the week.
ELA
We have begun out Book Study Digital Scrapbook. Students will be given their
choice board to choose 2 additional activities to showcase their knowledge.
We will work on a biography writing piece to learn more about the life of the
author. Students will be working on a variety of story elements through mentor
texts and Greek and Roman myths. This practice will also help them as they
complete their digital scrapbook.
